I transferred to this high school for a year in 2007-8. They weren't kidding about this state riding on the bible belt, bye bye science or individual thinking. They spend most of the schools budget on the football program, I don't see that accomplishing anything at all. Gangs are in this school, Crips mostly (if you want to call them that 8/). Shop class is where I learned how to make my first shank thanks to the teacher; I'm not kidding about this one. If you want your child to have a brighter future, enroll else where. I am soo glad to transfer back to the east coast. ***SIDE NOTE - Reviews with Google User and 5 stars should be removed; we all know that's the members of the school board holding on to whatever thin line that they have left.
This school has improved tremendously due to the new pricipal. The previous reviews stated about kenwood are not applicable to the school now. The teachers are kind, the students have privileges that other schools don't offer, such as allowing the students to have their phones out in the halls and in the cafeteria so they will focus more on their school work than worrying about the messages they receive during school hours. The students and teachers at kenwood make the school feel like one big family, most likely due to their openness to diversity. The teachers will do anything in their power to make sure the students understand the material that is being taught, they are not racist, and they certainly are not rude to the students. I hope you decide to send your children to kenwood for it truly is a great learning environment.
People at this school are too caught up in drama and are beyond racist. This school is horrible, there are no pep rallies at my old school there was a bunch it is very underbudgeted, no money into the music department they do not even have one piano to play. This school is no fun they are very strict on students and they don't allow you to live and have fun. The teachers are very rude, disrespectful, biased and choose favorites. It is so hard to fit in at this school because most of the students are ghetto, rude and unaccepting. They have no fun activities for the students and going to this school is horrible. The teachers at this school are very quick to catch an attitude with you and are unwilling to help if you do not understand. I would give this ghetto school zero stars if I could. It is horrible.
